Assignment 3.2

I have been learning integration technology into art education settings for three week, and all is going well so far.

In the first model, I learnt the development of technology in art education. From Sumerian clay tablet in ca. 2600 BC to Internet in 20st- century, the argument around the technology has never stopped. That is interesting to look at those question because some fears that people have had about the negative effects of new technology on students become true now, and I was inspired those fears and associate to our reality of education situation. When education try integrate technology into art education, such as Internet, educator also need consider the potentially dangerous of technology. For example, students depend on Google search or Wikipedia too much, and they may be easily affected by false on-line information. Also, students may divert their attention because they will lack self-control when they use phone or laptop.

In the model 2, I discussed the five characteristics Ferdig said are necessary in order to fit into the constructivist model of learning around evaluating the educational value of technology. This is my first time learnt it, and I think that is the most important theory in this model. Ferdig stated the criteria for Internet media tools application in education, and that is significant for modern education because we had turned in the digital times, and education need be match with the realty of today. However, not all of the resources are appropriate for teaching. By Ferdig criteria, educator can assess new technology tools that may be various comments from now on.

In the model 3, I learnt the anatomy of a blog and evaluate the different educational setting for individual approach. I very like the examples and resource that Kimberly offered. It is interesting to hear the diverse views from different place, and my classmate James stated a good point about blogs not being kept up. Actually I think that is common in personal blog, and I wonder how many kids could keep up their blog since they started to write it. Also, I think students like using social network, such as Facebook and Twitter, but I think that is different because Facebook is just like fast food or candy, and blog like coffee or wine that need thought. Sometimes that we can see many students did an amazing design of assignment but the content lacked depth. When educator train students write blog, this issue should be paid enough attention.

Hoping everything goes well in the future!
